During your first session, you and I will discuss your concerns and symptoms and begin the process of setting therapeutic goals. Many insurance companies require this, but it has always been our standard of practice to do this so clients can observe their own progress. I use a variety of therapies depending on your needs and goals.
My therapeutic orientation is a cognitive behavioral approach focusing on thought processes, problem solving, and setting goals as well as experiential therapies that help you reach deeper unexplored thoughts and feelings. I focus on serving you in a way that allows you to learn to observe things in your life differently than you did before. I work with you in a way of learning, not fixing, to help you see new possibilities in your life so that you can create the life you want.
You have a right to choose a therapy that suits your needs. If you have concerns about my suitability to serve you, I hope you will first discuss it with me. If we cannot resolve your concern I will arrange an appropriate referral. If you want to end therapy, I strongly recommend that you and I talk about that transition before you quit.
